After visiting with Trey Alligood, Madisonpark Collective‘s designer-in-chief and production guru in Downtown LA, I walked three blocks to Coles Diner, ordered a pastrami and swiss french dip sandwich (seriously, have one) and wrote the first line of my interview notes: ‘DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS’ I’m an unashamed fan of standout details, particularly in menswear where designers have to be especially innovative in ensuring they don’t frighten off their potential customers with excessive embellishment or too-clever-styling. Trey gets the balance just right with his smart use of smooth lamb leather trims, hand-finished rustic buckles, fireman clasps and the traditional button fly….
