IT’S TIME TO PARTY!

Historically the fashion industry has always stepped up to the plate when it comes to fundraising and campaigning for HIV/AIDS research and care for those living with HIV/AIDS.

As Perth-ites we can be extremely proud of our very own STYLEAID which celebrates it’s 15th year in 2012 and more than $1 million raised in support of the WA AIDS Council (WAAC).  With approximately 1270 people living with HIV/AIDS in Western Australia an organisation like the WAAC is vital.  As well as providing a range of services to assist in the prevention of HIV/AIDS the WAAC also assists with the care and treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS.  The WAAC’s role in the community as educators, advocates and supporters began in 1985 and for the last 14 years STYLEAID has held it’s annual event to raise much needed funds.

STYLEAID is a prominent event in Perths social calendar and this year 750 guests are invited to take part. Stephanie Patniotis, STYLEAID Event Co-Ordinator says “15 years is a long time to successfully maintain and re-invent an event and it’s a true testament to the committee, sponsors and volunteers who work tirelessly to put it all together. Happy Birthday STYLEAID gives us the opportunity to do what we do best. Make some noise, celebrate and PARTY.”

This years theme is, appropriately, Happy Birthday STYLEAID and it impresses with it’s beautiful execution of creative art direction and innovative ideas.  Photographer Richard Jefferson has beautifully captured a birthday party complete with party dresses, cake and a child-like wonder.  Perth designers Aurelio Costarella and Zhivago, alongside famed international designer Vivienne Westwood, provided the garments featured and Perth hair stylists Be Ba Beau completed the look with incredible hair styling.

STYLEAID maintains the tradition of inviting the industries finest designers to showcase their Spring/Summer 2012 collections on the night.  The list of designers is still hush hush but with tickets for the event going on sale at the end of May, it won’t be secret for long.
